About the role

At BiOrion we are able to support up to 2 internships simultaneously. The Intern at BiOrion works for at least 3 months, preferably 5-6 months, in our laboratory in Groningen, The Netherlands, on a dedicated project and supported by one of our scientists and/or technicians. We work on the development of new single domain antibodies against targets on cells that cause fibrosis or are involved in fibrotic cancers. You get the ability to work on scientific challenges using several laboratory techniques,  such as recombinant DNA techniques, protein expression in cultured bacteria, phage display screening and selection, bio-analysis in ELISA, mammalian cell culture, binding and uptake experiments. 

What we expect

  • You attend a relevant master or bachelor program (University or University of Applied Sciences) to become a scientist or technician in one of the life sciences disciplines, such as biotechnology, molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology or equivalent.
  • You have an affinity with applied (bio)pharmaceutical research and translational science.
  • You are accurate and you are a results-oriented team player, pro-active and hands-on, pragmatic attitude 
  • You have the ability to work independently in a small organization.

What we offer

You will be part of a small team in a small company and you get the ability to work on scientific challenges using several laboratory techniques. Depending on your input in a project your internship will be sufficiently for the requirements defined by your master or bachelor program.
